"Outside of the box" professionalism...
If you seek "outside of the
box" originality innovation and imagination in your personnel, then you
must apply "outside of
the box" rationale to your hiring decision...
A pressed suit, tie, corporate haircut along with the correct
"buzz words" and "catch phrases" are too often the key to winning a
corporate position. Employers often hire professionals based at least
partly upon their own "image" of a professional; wholly "inside of the
box" thinking.
However, when you seek innovation and creativity in a
system, you seek no less of a talented artist than if you were
commissioning a painting or a sculpture; you seek someone unrestrained
by the bounds of current reality. In this context a professional
is someone whose mind is capable of applying socratic method and
intellect across interdisciplinary boundaries, drawing from experience
in a multitude of areas of expertise to create new concepts, methods
and techniques to suit the needs of the system/application at hand.
Moreover this person must be capable of assembling, guiding and motivating
the team of equally creative people to make that system a reality.
Having been blessed (or cursed depending upon circumstances
and point of view) with a 180+ IQ and a curiosity driven intellect, my
life both professionally and personally has always been unencumbered by
the artificial constraints of societal image or "the box". I
attribute my persistant success across multiple unrelated
industries to the freedom from artificial constraints, stereotypes and
living and observing the world from "outside of the box". It has led
me time and again, to be called upon to apply my research and analytical skills in a number
of diverse areas for government and business.
My experience spans the following industries:
- Space Systems
- Nuclear Weapon Systems (Ballistic)
- Automation/Robotics
- Manufacturing
- Distribution
- Retail
- Aviation

career progression, you don't need to be working for me. I need people
with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and new skills, and who want my job."

- AJAX - Was a pioneer in the concept now known as AJAX
(as well as numerous other concepts/disciplines now commonplace on the internet),
having implemented numerous applications involving "back side" communications without the need to load or refresh web pages. The Emergency Victim Locator utilizes the
technology almost exclusively, and it is widely used in the EMCOM National
Emergency Alert Notification System to display status data without web page
updates. The first implementations of the technology were for database record create, update, locate, search and delete functions, and progressed to a
complete auction website for war collectables where users could display virtual real-time bid action without the need to refresh the web page. These were implemented before the use of XML, utilizing only frames and javascript in a unique synergism. This early concept is still utilized today since it works even when a foreign web site is in the primary browser display, a method that obviously
cannot be used in today's IFRAME/XML based AJAX implementions since you have no control over the page source of the foreign display. The methodology thus became
particularly powerful in applications involving predictive analysis for banner ad display when coupled with unique elements of our "Power Portal" methodologies. The methodology also became the foundation for the first extensive "Live Help" web application, the first "group conferencing" web application, etc. It is also an integral part of a current development effort for innovative new
applications adding significant operational dimensions to "MySpace" type websites.
